Netflix Korea puts its year-end weight behind a star-studded drama spanning three decades of showbiz
One of Netflix Korea's biggest K-dramas of 2026, "Tantara," has been confirmed for a Dec.11 rollout.
The series features a powerhouse ensemble led by two A-listers: Song Hye-kyo ("The Glory," "Descendants of the Sun") and Gong Yoo ("Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," "The Trunk"). They are joined by a supporting cast that includes Lee Ha-nee, AOA's Seolhyun and Cha Seung-won.
Set against the backdrop of Korea’s entertainment industry spanning the 1960s through the 1980s, "Tantara" chronicles childhood friends Min-ja (Song) and Dong-gu (Gong). Together, they navigate the music industry, overcoming poverty to pursue their ambitions.
The series brings together acclaimed creative talents behind the scenes as well. Celebrated writer Noh Hee-kyung, known for classic slice-of-life dramas such as "Our Blues" and "Dear My Friends" alongside hit romance projects like "It's Okay, That's Love" and "That Winter, the Wind Blows," has teamed up with director Lee Yoon-jung, the hitmaker behind "Coffee Prince" and "Cheese in the Trap."
To kick off the announcement, Netflix unveiled the official poster for "Tantara" on Thursday, positioning its main characters on a turntable.
According to the streamer, the visual design symbolizes the trajectories of Min-ja and Dong-gu, capturing their growth from their younger days as waiters through their shared journey into adulthood in the music industry.
