Fly to the Sky teases comeback after 8 years

R&B duo Fly to the Sky is preparing to return as a group for the first time in about eight years.

Member Brian confirmed the news through his Instagram account on Sunday, sharing photos of himself with fellow member Hwanhee along with images of himself at a recording studio.

“I know y’all heard the news, we’re coming back!” wrote Brian. “If you wait just a little longer, we may be back very soon.”

The announcement followed Hwanhee’s appearance on KBS2 variety show “Mr. House Husband” on Saturday, where he revealed that the two had been discussing a reunion.

“We had kept talking about (a comeback),” said Hwanhee. “Brian came as a guest to my solo concert last year, and I think that was when he really started wanting to be back onstage again.”

Fly to the Sky released its last full-group album "Fly High" in 2019. Group activities largely halted afterward, with Brian later speaking publicly about vocal difficulties and anxiety related to performing.

No release date or further details about the upcoming comeback have been announced.

The return also comes after years of recurring rumors that the two members had fallen out, speculation that both Hwanhee and Brian have repeatedly denied.

Appearing together on the third season of MBN’s “Moo No Plan” in May, Hwanhee said there had never been the kind of serious feud between the members often suggested in media reports. He acknowledged that the pair had occasionally argued over minor matters and added that they were now older and unlikely to clash in the same way they might have in the past.

On “Moo No Plan,” Brian spoke about a separate reason the duo’s activities slowed. Brian explained that he struggled with vocal instability and anxiety over performing, saying the difficulties became severe enough that he at one point lost the desire to sing.

The duo, which debuted through SM Entertainment in 1999, became one of Korea’s best-known R&B acts of the late 1990s and 2000s with hit songs including “Missing You,” “Even Though My Heart Breaks,” “It Happens to Be That Way,” “Your Season” and "A Time Limit.”
