The Hanok Heritage completes Raonjae wellness wing

The Hanok Heritage in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, has completed Raonjae, a wellness complex. Raonjae occupies about 895 square meters of land. Its ground floor holds an outdoor hanok infinity pool, a kids' pool, a private spa, a lounge and Monto, a Korean fine dining restaurant. A basement level houses a dry sauna, an indoor pool and locker rooms, open year-round. It has introduced five wellness programs including a tea ceremony class, a floating sound bath paired with morning yoga, woodworking, pickle making, and a hanok architecture session led by a master carpenter. All five will run as regular guest programming.

Tokyo's Kobayashi cooks two nights at Westin Josun Seoul

Hongyuan, the Chinese restaurant at the Westin Josun Seoul, will host Takeshi Kobayashi, head chef of the Roppongi fine dining restaurant Kobayashi, for a gala dinner Sept. 10 and 11.

The Tokyo restaurant works from classical Chinese technique as Kobayashi trained at Chinese restaurants across Japan. It has held Michelin stars since the Tokyo Guide launched in 2007. Kyobashi became head chef in 2024.

The Kobayashi special course, developed with the Hongyuan kitchen, is built around seasonal produce.

Dinner costs 600,000 won per person with alcohol pairings, or 550,000 won with non-alcoholic pairings. Reservations are required for parties of two or more.

Lahan Hotel brings authors to Jeonju for reading season

Lahan Hotel is running a "Meet the Author" series with Wansan Library in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, built around talks, readings and signings.

Poet Ahn Hee-yeon opens the series Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. with a session on finding poetry in daily routine, drawing on her books to explain how she gathers and records material. Shin Yu-jin, who has translated many works by Nobel laureate Annie Ernaux into Korean, will moderate.

Writer and translator Park Seo-young follows Oct. 6 at 2 p.m., discussing her picture book translations and her essay writing.

Admission is free, with registration through lib.jeonju.go.kr. Books by both authors will be sold on-site.

Sofitel Ambassador Seoul opens art concierge pop-up for Frieze week

Sofitel Ambassador Seoul will run an art concierge pop-up called "Curated Rendezvous" on its sixth floor from Sept. 1 to 6, timed to Frieze Seoul 2026.

The hotel developed it with Flowme, a platform that curates art by emotional state. Visitors take a short emotion test, then receive artwork, sound and artist recommendations matched to the result. The hotel said the analysis draws on technology developed with Sookmyung Women's University's Graduate School of Psychotherapy.

The floor is divided into zones for the test, curation, artwork, hands-on activities and an outdoor sculpture display. Programs include producing art goods and a contemporary take on traditional folk painting, with concierge staff on site throughout.

Hotel guests visiting during the run receive a limited-edition Sofitel poster by their matched artist.

Andaz Seoul Gangnam marks 7 years with children's art day

Andaz Seoul Gangnam will hold Kids Art Day on Sept. 6, a one-day program marking the hotel's seventh anniversary.

It runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 17th floor, across the Gangnam Penthouse and Sky Terrace Suite, both of which look out over central Seoul.

A young artist from Hello Museum, the country's first children's art museum, will lead a 90-minute class for elementary school students, followed by a short briefing for guardians. Finished works go on display for about two weeks on the media wall in the first-floor lobby.

A picnic-style lunch buffet prepared by the hotel's chefs is included, along with a gift and a certificate for each child.

The program is open to students in grades one through six with a guardian, and costs 150,000 won each for child and guardian.
