Samsung Display said Tuesday that it has unveiled a new brand identity for its quantum dot organic light-emitting diode technology, and is preparing to file a trademark application for it.
The brand identity visualizes the letter “Q” from QD-OLED, incorporating a blue hue representing the blue OLED material and a gradient that symbolizes the technology’s expansive color spectrum.
First introduced in late 2021, QD-OLED technology has been recognized for delivering superior picture quality compared to conventional OLED monitors.
It has since been adopted in over 170 TV and monitor models from 18 global brands, including Samsung Electronics, Sony, Dell, MSI, Asus and HP.
Known for offering the widest color gamut among commercially available displays, QD-OLED panels are praised for their ability to reproduce colors with exceptional accuracy, closely matching the creators’ original intent.
“QD-OLED combines the superior black expression capabilities of traditional OLED with the optical characteristics of quantum dots, enabling richer color expression and distortion-free image quality from any angle,” a Samsung Display official said.
“By expressing QD-OLED’s outstanding image quality through the brand identity, we aim to communicate the distinct technological value of QD-OLED to our clients and consumers,” the official added.
The company plans to collaborate with global partners to showcase the new brand identity at domestic and international exhibitions, and to apply it to the packaging of finished products, ramping up efforts to strengthen its technology branding.
