Online reservations for guide tours of Deoksugung, one of the five Joseon-era (1392-1910) palaces in Seoul, will begin on March 27, according to the Korea Heritage Service.

The reservations will open on the palace website on a first come, first served basis. The 70-minute tours will take place twice daily on Fridays and Saturdays from April 4-19, with each session accepting up to 15 people.

The guide tours will focus on three halls: Junghwajeon, Hamnyeongjeon and Seogeodang.

Junghwajeon is the most important hall in the palace, where kings and officials discussed day-to-day state matters, and received foreign dignitaries. Hamnyeongjeon is a bedroom, and together with Junghwajeon, they are nationally recognized treasures.

Seogeodang, whose name translates to “the king’s old house,” is the only two-story building made of wood at Deoksugung.

Online reservations are free but open to those of at least middle school age. A 1,000-won admission fee applies.
