Two fishing vessels ran aground, resulting in the deaths of a Korean captain and an Indonesian crew member, with two other people still missing in the waters off Jeju when a storm warning was in effect on Saturday.

At 9:24 a.m. on the day, a report was received by the Seogwipo Coast Guard that two fishing vessels had struck a rock while operating near Rabbit Island off the coast of Hado-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju City. The vessels were the Samgwangho (32 tons, coastal jigging), carrying seven crew members, and the 330,000 Sunho (29 tons, jigging), carrying eight crew members.

The captain of the Samgwangho, a man in his 50s, was found in cardiac arrest and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 40-year-old Indonesian crew member from 330,000 Sunho was discovered in cardiac arrest on shore approximately four hours after the accident and was also pronounced dead at the hospital.

The remaining 11 crew members were rescued, while two others remain missing.
