A South Korean court on Tuesday re-issued an arrest warrant for impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol over his short-lived declaration of martial law on December 3.
The Seoul Western District Court granted the second warrant in the afternoon, according to investigators at the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials.
This came after the initial warrant expired on Monday without execution.
With the new warrant issued, the CIO is expected to resume efforts to detain Yoon in close collaboration with the police. Their first attempt to detain the leader failed amid a standoff between investigators and the presidential security service.
Yoon, under investigation for alleged insurrection and abuse of power, has ignored three previous summons to be questioned.
