The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korea Tourism Organization on Wednesday announced March as this year’s Travel Month to promote local tourism with large-scale discounts on public transportation, accommodation and domestic tourism products.

Travel Month is a promotion, first launched in June 2023, to meet rising public demand for travel after the lifting of social distancing measures imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

From Feb. 20 to March 31, a 30 to 50 percent discount will be given on high-speed KTX rides to travelers who purchase accommodation, tourism products and services from major online travel agencies and companies partnered with Korea Railroad Corp.

South Korea’s five major tourist trains -- West Gold Train, S-Train, East Sea & Santa Village Train, V-Train and A-Train -- will also offer large discounts of up to 50 percent.

The train tickets will be available at Korail’s official website www.letskorail.com starting Feb. 20.

Car rental platform CarMore will issue special coupons that can be used for its rental services, providing a 10 to 20 percent discount.

Coupons will be available at KTO’s official website https://korean.visitkorea.or.kr/travelmonth starting Feb. 20.

Coupons can be used at either CarMore or on T Map’s mobile application from March 1 to April 14.

South Korean budget airline Jin Air Co., in collaboration with travel agencies, is offering 15,000 won ($11.22) coupons for air travelers departing from Gimpo International Airport to Ulsan, Yeosu, Sacheon and Pohang Gyeongju Airport, from Feb. 29 to March 31.

A total of 110,000 accommodation vouchers will be released starting Feb. 27.
