Krapp replaces Thomas Kuehl whose four-year term largely involved dealing with issues related to an emissions scandal.

“Korea is one of the leading countries in the global automotive industry and (a) strategic market for (the) Volkswagen brand,” said Krapp. “Regaining trust from customers and public will be the first priority and I will put all efforts for the successful new start of Volkswagen Korea.”

Krapp joined Volkswagen Group in 2002 and served various positions in brand, sales and marketing. From 2010 to 2012, he led the presales and marketing team of Volkswagen Korea. In 2014, he was promoted to head of sales for the Far East Asia region, which covers Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand.
