Light installations, lamps and lanterns for the Sejong Light Festival will stay in place through Feb. 18, giving people more time to enjoy the luminous nightscape of Sejong City.

Though the 2023 Sejong Light Festival was initially scheduled to run through Dec. 31, 2023, Sejong had extended the annual light festival until Jan. 14.

Recognizing the growing popularity of the festival, the city chose to extend the festival once again.

“With the extended schedule, more Sejong residents and visitors can enjoy the colorful light fixtures during the upcoming Lunar New Year holidays as well," Sejong Mayor Choi Min-ho said in a press release on Monday.

The light installations, located around the southern areas of Geumgang Pedestrian Bridge -- a two-story, circular bridge -- are switched on from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends and public holidays.

There will be no festival-related programs or activities during the extended run.

The Sejong Light Festival, which marked its second year, has delighted visitors and locals with stunning night views of Sejong and the city’s latest landmark -- the Geumgang Pedestrian Bridge -- which opened in March 2022.
