Lotte Duty Free’s online sales are expected to surpass 3 trillion won ($2.5 billion) by the year-end, exceeding its target of 2.9 trillion won, according to the company.
In the first half of this year, Lotte Duty Free recorded 1.42 trillion won in sales at its online mall, a 49 percent jump year-on-year.
Last year, Lotte Duty Free raked 2.14 trillion won in online sales, up 46.3 percent from the previous year, the largest sales of an online duty-free outlet in the world.
The company’s online sales currently attributes 30 percent of its total sales, while the figure was just around 8 percent in 2013.

Lotte Duty Free said the provision of services in Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese (simplified and traditional) attracted global customers.
For the first time, Lotte Duty Free introduced a service in traditional Chinese characters in the second half of last year for customers in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. This has translated into a 291 percent increase in the number of customers from the Greater China region during the first half of this year.
Also, strengthened membership benefits and collaborations have increased its popularity among those in their 20s and 30s, it added.
