Samsung Electronics will start receiving preorders for the world’s first QLED display-equipped laptops in collaboration with Intel, from Friday.

Presales for the Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion will take place online from Friday through Thursday ahead of their official launch Dec. 20.

Unveiled at the Samsung Developer Conference in October, the Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion feature the world’s first QLED display on a laptop.

Equipped with Samsung’s proprietary QLED display, the laptops are capable of delivering full color volume anywhere, even under sunlight. The outdoor mode offers a maximum 600-nit display capability.

The Galaxy Book Flex comes with the enhanced S Pen and new gesture controls, enabling users to carry out creative tasks including instant visual presentations. A 360-degree hinge allows the device to be turned into a tablet PC when needed.

The Galaxy Book Ion features greater portability as it is made with ultralight magnesium and weighs less than a kilogram.

Both laptops have long-lasting batteries and power-conserving displays, according to their product specifications.

At the SDC event, the laptops gained attention as they were co-engineered with Intel as part of the Project Athena innovation program.

The Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion passed rigorous testing, meeting the program’s targets for advanced computing experience and specifications to enable exceptional responsiveness, high efficiency battery life and instant action, according to the Intel program.

They also boast 10th Gen Intel Core processors for intelligent performance and entertainment, and Intel Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt 3, industry-leading wireless and wired standards for fast, flexible and easy connectivity.

The Galaxy Book Flex is priced between 1.75 million won and 2.92 million won. The Ion costs between 1.47 million won and 2.59 million won.
