The Argentine Embassy in South Korea hosted the 9th Wines of Argentina last week with an aim to promote its wine to Korean consumers, the embassy said.

“Through the event we are making efforts to introduce outstanding Argentine wine in the Korean market and continue the positive trend of Korea-bound exports,” Argentine Ambassador to South Korea Alfredo Carlos Bascou said at the event.

“Argentina’s wine industry is receiving attention as an attractive option for tourists. This is reflected in the number of international events related to wine held in Argentina and various ‘wine routes’ tourism programs taking place across the nation.”

Twenty-four wineries representing Argentina and related officials, including the Argentine ambassador to South Korea, attended the event Tuesday in central Seoul.

According to the embassy, Argentina accounts for 2.7 percent of the global wine market and has over 220,000 hectares of vineyards.
