South Korea’s largest steelmaker said Tuesday it had demonstrated a welding solution jointly developed with its client Kiswel at North America’s largest metal-forming event.
At Fabtech 2019 in Chicago last week, Posco and Kiswel promoted their welding materials and welding technologies suitable for high-strength steel for automobiles and construction as well as cryogenic steel for liquefied natural gas storage tanks and marine structures.

Fabtech is North America’s largest event for metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing. It attracted 48,000 visitors and 1,825 companies from around the world this year.
At this year’s exhibition, Posco and Kiswel expanded the product line into six fields, including automobiles, energy and marine. The two firms attracted visitors’ attention with their jointly developed welding technology PosZET, which prevents pore defects and reduces slag of ultra-high strength galvanized steel sheets for automobiles.
The PosZET welding solution is expected to have a significant effect on the improvement of product quality and cost reduction of ultra-high strength plated steel sheets, a General Motors official was quoted as saying.
Kiswel Vice Chairman Choi Hui-am said, “We will continue to expand our customized co-marketing activities with Posco.”
