July 13, 2018 - 10:41 By Kim Da-sol
Gmarket, a leading online shopping site operated by eBay Korea, said Wednesday that it has strengthened shopping benefits for foreign users with diverse promotions in July.

With the foreign population increasing here, eBay Korea said its global shopping platform Gmarket Global Shop has seen on-year sales growth of at least 33 percent in the health food section in the second quarter of this year. Sales of fresh food such as seasonal fruits, vegetables and rice also saw a 12 percent increase over the same period, the company said.

Gmarket Global Shop was launched in 2006. The website is accessible in English and Chinese, while foreign credit cards as well as Paypal and Alipay are also available without registering the Korean payment authentication system.

In the month of July, foreign customers can shop for a variety of daily necessities at discounted prices.

Gmarket said it also partnered with Korea’s leading telecommunication company KT to provide foreigners with flexible short-term internet and data USIM contracts at a 30 percent discounted price.

“Gmarket Global Shop will continue to provide foreigners who are residing in Korea with a quick delivery service and convenient payment method so they can enjoy a high-quality shopping experience with our various promotions,” said Moon Ji-young, head of Gmarket Global Shop.
