Iksan Police Station in North Jeolla Province said Saturday that it has booked a 55-year-old man without detention on the charge of obstruction of justice.

The man, surnamed Kwon, is accused of punching a 29-year-old firefighter surnamed Choi five to six times inside an ambulance on its way to a hospital in Iksan, North Jeolla Province around 3 a.m. on Thursday.

The firefighter was headed to a nearby hospital when he picked up Kwon from a report that he was lying down in front of a sauna in Yeongdeung-dong, Iksan from drinking.

Kwon reportedly hit Choi when he asked him for water and was not given any.

There was no water inside the ambulance and the man was caught red-handed, according to police.

Police sent Kwon back home since he was “too drunk.” A formal investigation is set to launch soon.
