June 15, 2018 - 20:46 By Yonhap

South and North Korea have each formed delegations for next week's planned talks for sports exchanges, including joint participation in the upcoming Asian Games in Indonesia, Seoul's unification ministry said Friday.

The delegation from the South will be led by Jeon Choong-ryul, incumbent secretary general of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, who will be accompanied by two officials from the unification and culture ministries, it said.

Their North Korean counterparts will include Vice Sports Minister Won Kil-u as the chief delegate and two other officials.

They are set to hold talks on the southern side of the border village of Panmunjom next Monday. The two agreed to hold talks on sports exchanges during high-level talks held at the border truce village early this month.

They are expected to discuss ways to expand sports cooperation, including fielding a joint team to the Asian Games in August.

Forming a joint team to the games was one of the agreements the two Koreas made at the April 27 summit of their leaders. (Yonhap)
