LG Electronics posted an operating profit of 1.1 trillion won ($1.03 billion) in the first quarter, a 20 percent increase from last year, the company said Friday. Its sales also grew 3.2 percent to 15.1 trillion won, driven by solid performance in the television and home appliances businesses despite weak sales from the smartphone unit.
