Kang Kyung-wha held a disclosed meeting with Gen. Vincent Brooks at her office in Seoul, four days before US President Donald Trump embarks on his two-day trip to Seoul.

The foreign ministry said they discussed North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile programs and alliance issues, major items of next week's summit.

"My position is we have an alliance relationship and we should look very closely at the words said by the foreign ministry," Brooks told reporters after the meeting, without elaborating with details.

Their meeting came days after Kang said South Korea is not considering any additional deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system and the country won't participate in US-led missile defense networks. (Yonhap)
