Indie icon 10cm to be EXO Chen’s new partner-in-harmony

Oct. 27, 2017 - 18:12 By Kim Min-joo
Chen of K-pop behemoth EXO announced a surprise collaboration with Korean indie icon 10cm on S.M. Entertainment’s weekly music project “SM Station.”

According to the agency Friday, the duet will release a project single track titled “Bye Babe” on Nov. 3. The sweet voice of EXO’s main vocalist Chen, which has been a signature element to the band’s colorful musical spectrum, will crisscross with the indieman’s emotive vocal to create a new harmony.

Earlier last month, Chen had brought up 10cm as his dream collaboration partner on a SBS radio show. He said he has been a fan of 10cm since high school years. Through a post on his Instagram, 10cm responded to Chen’s suggestion with excitement, hinting at a possible collaboration with him.

In a teaser clip released Thursday, 10cm jokingly re-enacted the moment he heard Chen’s remarks on the radio. 10cm hears Chen's message while listening to radio on his car, and dials up his manager to show off what he just heard. However, the manager cynically replies, “Why would Chen do a collaboration with you?” and hangs up.

The result of this surprise collaboration, “Bye Babe” will be unveiled next Friday. “Bye Babe” is the 31st track to be introduced in the second season of SM station, under which a new single track was released every Friday since the last week of March.
