6 injured as car plows into shop in Gangnam

A car plowed into a shop on a busy shopping street near Gangnam Station in southern Seoul on Wednesday.

It smashed into a storefront, injuring six people, including one who was severely injured, according to local fire authorities.

Among the six injured people were customers inside the store and pedestrians at the storefront.

The 57-year-old driver of the car, surnamed Jang, reportedly did not suffer any injury. Jang told police the cause of the accident was a sudden unintended acceleration of her car.

Police are investigating the exact cause of the crash based on testimony from Jang, who was driving on her own at the time.
