North Korean hackers are cyberattacking cryptocurrency exchange services in South Korea and related sites to secure bitcoins, Bloomberg Businessweek reported in its latest issue.
The weekly business magazine quoted security researcher Fire Eye as saying that more signs of bitcoin ransom payments to North Korea are being detected amid the international sanctions stacking up against the Kim Jong-un regime.

The US media outlet assessed that the benefits offered by cryptocurrencies -- secretiveness and lack of state control -- could turn them into a viable source of funds for North Korea.
Kim Jong-un on Friday issued a rare direct statement in which he warned US President Donald Trump would “face results beyond his expectation” for the UN speech he had made. In the speech, Trump threatened to “totally destroy” North Korea if the US or its allies are attacked.
