US-based Intel Corp. topped the list with $15.5 billion, followed by SK hynix's bigger rival Samsung Electronics Co. with $11.7 billion, the data showed.

Qualcomm, on the other hand, moved down a notch over the cited period to fourth place with $4.09 billion in sales. Micron Technology Inc. followed next with $4.08 billion, the data also showed.

In terms of market share, Intel accounted for 16 percent, followed by Samsung Electronics with 12.1 percent and SK hynix with 4.7 percent.

"SK hynix, which mainly produces memory chips, such as dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips, is expected to solidify its third spot by expanding sales further this year," an industry watcher said. (Yonhap)
