Lady Gaga to headline Rock in Rio

Feb. 7, 2017 - 14:54 By Korea Herald
RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) - Lady Gaga will headline the Rock in Rio festival for the first time, organizers in Brazil confirmed Monday.

The US superstar, who will be on her newly announced Joanne World Tour, will stop in Rio de Janeiro on Sept. 15 for the opening night of the latest edition of the annual festival, rockinrio.com announced.

Also playing at the Sept. 15-24 event, staged at Rio‘s Olympic Park, will be groups including Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Lady Gaga, one of the world’s best known pop stars, was a critical hit on Sunday with her halftime show at the Superbowl in Houston, although she shied away from what many had thought would be a moment of political protest.

Shortly after the performance she announced the Joanne Tour, named after her most recent album, on Twitter.

Lady Gaga has previously performed in Brazil, playing Sao Paulo, Rio and Porto Alegre during a 2012 tour.
