Singer-actor Rain is gearing for a January return with his first album in nearly three years, according to his agency Rain Company.

The upcoming album will be Rain’s first music release since his “Rain Effect” album in January 2014, which marked his return since completing his mandatory military service.

The singer was initially slated to return to the stage in the latter half of this year, but his agency said that the album was not ready yet and decided to push its release to coincide with New Year’s, adding that the January release date was “concrete.”

During his hiatus from the music scene, Rain has been keeping himself busy on the small screen. He starred alongside Oh Yeon-seo in the SBS comedy drama “Please Come Back, Mister,” which aired in February this year.

Rain is also part of the cast of the upcoming new Chinese TV drama “Endless August,” in which he stars opposite K-pop star Victoria of f(x). He is also slated to join the cast of the JTBC reality program “Knowing Bros.”
