South Korea’s parliament voted to impeach President Park Geun-hye on Friday, in a culmination of weekslong political turmoil over an allegation that Park’s friend Choi Soon-sil manipulated power from behind the scenes.
The parliamentary impeachment bill was passed 234-56.
It is now up to the nine judges of the Constitutional Court to decide whether Park should be removed from office.
