TVE to air Spanish version of ‘Fantastic Duo’ next year

Nov. 30, 2016 - 16:05 By Korea Herald
“Fantastic Duo,” a popular music reality program on SBS, is heading to Spain.

The Spain-based broadcaster TVE will be airing an adapted version of the show, which provides fans the opportunity to perform duets with their favorite singers, according to SBS on Tuesday. It is the first Korean variety program to be reformatted to enter the European market.

“TVE also owns channels in South America, where Spanish is widely spoken,” said Kim In-soon, who oversees global production at SBS, in a statement. “The overall concept of ‘Fantastic Duo’ will resonate with South American audiences, who enjoy singing and dancing.”

The original program, which recently concluded its first season last week, has featured some of the biggest names in Korean music, including K.Will, Kim Bum-soo, boy band Big Bang’s Taeyang and others.

Meanwhile, a spin-off of “Oh My Baby” -- a leading SBS reality program starring celebrities and their children -- is gearing up for its series premiere in Vietnam in December.

The adapted version of “Fantastic Duo,” titled “Duo Fantastico,” will begin airing in Spain next March.
