Korea to list 3 new KOSPI 200-related futures products

Nov. 23, 2016 - 15:11 By 임정요
Three more KOSPI 200 Sector Index Futures products will be listed next week in a bid to support the government's efforts to diversify derivative-related investment vehicles here, South Korea's stock market operator said Wednesday.

The Korea Exchange (KRX) has seven KOSPI 200 sector futures programs -- energy and chemicals, information technology, financials, consumer discretionary, construction, heavy industries and health care.

It has decided to add three more sectors -- steel and materials, consumer goods and industrial products.

Those will be listed next Monday in a follow-up measure to the Financial Services Commission's (FSC) announcement earlier this week of a set of measures to enhance the global competitiveness of the local derivatives market, said the Seoul bourse.

"It's intended to meet investment demand by key market participants including institutional investors and help them manage risks," the KRX said.

It also plans to unveil four new indices, based on Mini KOSPI 200 Futures prices, on Monday. (Yonhap)
