North Korea is showing no signs of preparations for an imminent nuclear or long-range missile test, a US website monitoring the communist nation said Tuesday.
Satellite imagery of the North's Punggye-ri nuclear test site taken from Oct. 29-Nov. 9 shows continued low-level activity, but it appears that maintenance and minor excavation operations are taking place at the North and West Portals, 38 North said.
"There are no definitive indications that another test is imminent. However, the site remains capable of further testing with little notice, once the decision to move forward is made," it said.
Satellite imagery of the North's Dongchang-ri long-range missile site indicates continuing construction activity at the site, but that does not appear directly related to any recent or forthcoming engine test or satellite launch, 38 North said.
"Instead, it suggests continued infrastructure development that will allow the facility to operate on a more full-time basis with increased numbers of personnel in residence," it said. (Yonhap)
