Momoland to debut with crowdfunded album

Oct. 20, 2016 - 16:56 By Korea Herald
Rookie girl group Momoland will be making its official debut next month.

The seven-member act will be releasing its first album on Nov. 10, according to industry insiders.

The debut of the group created through Mnet’s K-pop survival program “Finding Momoland” was delayed after it failed to achieve the show’s final mission of gathering 3,000 audience members for a concert. The girl group managed to attract just over 2,000 people.

To gear up for its upcoming releases, Momoland -- consisting of members Nancy, Hyebin, Nayun, Ahin, Yeonwoo, Jane and JooE -- successfully crowdfunded to cover the costs of the album’s production. The group raised about 10 million won, well over its initial goal of seven million won.

“In addition to local fans, people from all over Asia and countries like England donated to Momoland,” according to the crowdfunding platform Makestar on Thursday.

After releasing its debut album, Momoland is scheduled to hold more broadcast appearances and promotional activities.
