GM Korea to recall 376 Spark electric cars for defective airbag software

Oct. 7, 2016 - 09:43 By KH디지털2
GM Korea Co., the South Korean unit of US carmaker General Motors Co., is recalling certain model years of the Spark electric vehicle sold here for issues related to the airbag control software that may lead the airbag to fail to deploy, the transport ministry said Friday.

The recall affects 376 Spark electric vehicles produced between July 5, 2013 and July 26, 2016.

Due to a defect in the control unit's software, the front airbags may fail to deploy while the car's seat belt pretensioner may also fail to work properly, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said in a press release.

Free repair services are now available at any GM Korea service center throughout the country. (Yonhap)
