SsenStone passes FIDO standards to achieve higher level of authentication security

Sept. 27, 2016 - 21:51 By Korea Herald
Fintech startup SsenStone announced Tuesday that its independently developed certification security product, StonePASS, recently received FIDO certification, an international standard for biometric authentication.
StonePASS is the realization of the “direct authentication” concept through the integration of various authentication solutions -- password, i-Pin, and OTP, for example -- into one system.

“Because biometric recognition indices such as iris recognition were included in the FIDO evaluation, our product has become stronger in terms of its authentication security capabilities,” said SsenStone CEO Yoo Chang-hun.

SsenStone’s integration of various authentication solutions was achieved through its independently developed and applied “bidirectional dynamic key matching algorithm,” which is a next-generation authentication technology that enables the integration of diverse factors and channels all into one.
From the perspective of client companies, this translates into less hassle, as it is no longer necessary to install multiple solutions one by one, and a more robust authentication security system at a lower cost.

StonePASS also features a fortified user-based interface. Although users enter one fixed password or PIN code, the system changes it to a different value each time, ensuring security and convenience. Another advantage is the expanded range of options — for example, the user can choose to add OTP or biometric authentication.

Founded in November 2015, SsenStone has been recognized for its remarkable technological innovation, and is currently engaged in negotiations over new business projects with state institutions such as the Constitutional Court of Korea, as well as public and financial institutions. It is widely regarded as a company with strong business potential, which is reflected in its recent designation as a beneficiary of support from the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, financial institutions, and private companies.
