China certifies Korean-certified TV for 1st time

Aug. 21, 2016 - 13:12 By KH디지털2

A Chinese regulator had issued a compulsory certification for South Korean-certified televisions to be sold in China for the first time, officials said Sunday.

The move means that the Chinese regulator, the China Quality Certification Center, recognizes South Korean electronics and appliance goods, which are certified by South Korean regulators, without passing the rules of the Chinese compulsory certification system.

The South Korean TV products received an international certification, known as the IECEE CB Scheme, from a South Korean regulator.

The first Chinese certification was issued last Thursday and is expected to help lower non-tariff barriers between the two nations, according to the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

A free trade deal between South Korea and China went into effect in late 2015 and the two nations have pledged to lower non-tariff barriers.

Regulators from South Korea and China have pushed to expand their mutually recognized certifications to other electronics products.

"Throughout this cooperation, work to ease non-tariff trade barriers between the two nations are expected to gather momentum," said an official at KATS. (Yonhap)
