[THE INVESTOR] Naver, the Korean internet giant that owns immensely popular mobile messenger LINE, said on Aug. 18 it will make a fresh investment into stylus start-up Widevantage.

The company said Naver D2 Startup Factory, its start-up accelerator, will carry out the investment, though it didn’t specify an amount. Together with the funding, it plans to offer residential office space, infrastructure and business consultations. 



Established in 2013, Widevantage is specialized in developing a Bluetooth-free, battery-free joystick controller that can be used on mobile devices.

Naver said the company is in talks with diverse companies in the fields of education and gaming contents for possible partnership.

“Widevantage technology can be applied not just for smartphones but also for futuristic platforms such as VR/AR controllers,” Naver said.
