[THE INVESTOR] CJ E&M, a leading media content creator in South Korea, has posted 14.1 billion won ($12.70 million) in operating profit in the Aril-June period, down from 17.8 billion won during the same period last year, the company said in its regulatory filing on Aug. 9.
It logged 357.3 billion won in revenue, up 19.4 percent from a year earlier.
The company said it was able to record stable profits despite sluggish TV ad and movie markets by focusing on creating competitive TV shows.
The firm’s TV content business earned 20.5 billion won in operating profit while both the film and performance businesses posted a loss.
“CJ E&M will spare no efforts to become a global content provider by building global production and distribution networks for media content,” said the company in a press release.
