Man’s murder plans go awry

A man with the intent of murder realized halfway through the act that he was strangling the wrong woman and tried to escape, but was arrested by the police for attempted homicide.

Busan Bukbu Police said Thursday that the 48-year-old surnamed Oh was under investigation for trying to strangle the 50-year-old victim and trespassing in her house in Gupo-dong, Buk-gu, Busan at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Oh told the police he had been looking for a woman who allegedly spread rumors that eventually resulted in his divorce.

He said he meant to kill the woman, but went into the wrong house.

Upon noticing that he had targeted the wrong person, he tried to run away and said to her, “I’ve got the wrong person. I am sorry.”

He was arrested by police who came to the scene following reports from a neighbor who witnessed the crime.
