Audi Volkswagen to recall cars over child lock problems

Audi Volkswagen Korea Ltd., the local importer and distributor of the German car brand, will recall 1,320 units over defects in their automatic child safety locks, the Korean transport ministry said Monday.

The problems related to the child lock function were detected in Volkswagen Tiguan sports utility vehicles and three other models manufactured from Nov. 25 to Feb. 4, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said. 


Free replacement services will be available starting on Monday at the company's service centers throughout the country.

Separately, Suzuki CMC, the Korean importer of Japanese motorcycle, will recall 538 units over malfunctioning power supply unit, which could discharge battery or stop engines during driving, the ministry said.

GSX 1300R and eight other motorcycle brands made between Sept. 3, 2007, to Sept. 13, 2011, are subject to free repairs starting from Wednesday Suzuki's service centers. (Yonhap)
