The biggest obstacle to women’s financial activity was child care, which took up 48 percent of the reason for staying at home, and social prejudice and discrimination against working women, which took up 20 percent.

Among the women who worked, the level of those who held a non-permanent job was 44 percent, higher than the male percentage of 30 percent.

Average monthly income for women was 1.43 million won, 59 percent of the male wage of 2.44 million won.

In a double-income family, Daegu women typically spent an average of 2 1/2 hours on daily household chores while in comparison men spent 40 minutes.

The average marriage age in Daegu was 32.5 years-old for men and 30.2 years-old for women.

The DWFF said 6 percent of Daegu women felt they were safe, while 54 percent thought they lacked security.
