Park Yu-chun, the troubled member of popular K-pop boy band JYJ, appeared before police Thursday to face questioning over his sexual assault allegations which have been rocking the local entertainment scene.

The 30-year-old singer-actor appeared at the Gangnam Police Station in southern Seoul about three weeks after he was first sued over allegedly raping a woman working at a local bar.

"First of all, I am very sorry for causing many people concern," he told reporters before entering the office, adding he will fully cooperate with the investigation. He declined to answer any other questions over the allegations.

Park has been mired in a scandal as four different women, all working at local bars, lodged complaints against him this month claiming they were raped by him. One of the cases dates back to 2014, while the latest allegedly occurred this month.

The woman who filed the first complaint on June 10 has dropped the case, saying that "there was no coercion." But Park made a counterclaim last week that she falsely accused him of sexual assault.

Park's agency has been asserting his innocence, staking his career and reputation on the line.

Police said they will grill Park over whether there was coercion involved in the cases and collect an oral DNA sample. They said Park will be summoned a couple more times before the case can be concluded.

Police have formed a team of 12 investigators to handle Park's case as it has drawn keen public attention. The negative publicity has dealt a serious blow to his signature clean-cut image. (Yonhap)
