ACRC to address ‘corruption' in public firms

May 3, 2016 - 17:18 By Yoon Min-sik
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission has agreed with six state-run organizations to review their bylaws and amend what it views as “corruption-prone factors,” officials said Tuesday.

The state-run anticorruption body on Monday concluded a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Land & Housing Corporation, Korea Rural Community Cooperation, Korea Gas Corporation, Korea Airports Corporation, Small Enterprise and Market Service and Social Security Information Service.

“The purpose of the MOU is to identify and rectify corruption-prone factors entrenched in organizational bylaws to enhance its transparency through cooperation between the ACRC and the organization,” the commission said.

An analysis of each group’s bylaws for corruption factors will ensue, with respective organizations conducting voluntary in-house inspection. Based on these results, their bylaws will be revised by the end of each year.

ACRC chairman Sung Yung-hoon said he expects the memorandum to be an opportunity to amend corruption-inducing factors, and eventually “resolve public’s inconvenience and vitalize the economy.”
