May 1, 2016 - 14:14 By Sohn Ji-young
Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will be rolling out its “kimchi food truck” in Seoul and Jejudo Island this week, with the aim of promoting kimchi to foreign tourists.

The event targets the estimated 63,000 Chinese tourists who are visiting Korea over the Chinese Labor Day holiday (Apr. 30 to May 2), the ministry said.

The food truck will offer various kimchi-based dishes, including kimchi fried rice, kimchi pancakes, kimchi dumplings and kimchi egg rolls for some 5,000 people per day. Recipes for other food related to kimchi will also be available.

“We hope that this event will enhance Chinese citizens’ interest in kimchi and lend a hand in revitalizing Korea’s kimchi exports to China,” a Food Ministry official said.

The “kimchi food truck” will be launched at Myeong-dong, one of the most popular shopping districts in Seoul, from May 4-5.

In Jejudo Island, the truck will be available at the Cheonjiyeon Waterfall square from May 11-12 and near Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff on May 13.
