A Seoul court on Friday sentenced a former head of a government public relations agency to 18 months in prison for receiving illegal political funds.
The Seoul Southern District Court handed down the ruling for Kim Chang-ho, the former head of the Government Information Agency.
Kim was also ordered to forfeit 629 million won ($554,000) of the bribes he received from Lee Chul, head of Value Invest Korea, a local investment company, between 2012 and 2014.
Kim was not immediately reached for comment.
Kim headed the Government Information Agency from 2005 to 2008. (Yonhap)
