Maeil Dairies Industry, South Korea’s leading manufacturer of dairy products, opened a new farm experience park in Gochang County, North Jeolla Province, last week, with the aim of promoting Korea’s agricultural business.

The “Sangha Farm” was built with an investment of around 37 billion won ($32.44 million) by Maeil, in conjunction with Gochang County and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

The farm park spans across 100,000 square meters of land, offering visitors opportunities to experience how plant and animal farms function as well as a chance to learn about the local food-making process.

“Our specialized programs allow visitors to experience the entire food-making process from harvest, processing, delivery and service,” Maeil Dairies Industry said in a statement.

With its programs, Maeil aims to tap into growing public interest in healthy diets and food culture, as well as appeal to foreign tourists looking for interesting sites to visit.

As of now, Sangha Farm features a number of farm experience centers, restaurants and a farmer’s market that sells diverse agricultural products grown and harvested locally.

A lodging facility and spa will be added to the site next year, fueling the company’s stated goal to attract 1 million visitors to the farm park by 2020.
