March 21, 2016 - 17:05 By KH디지털2
Last year’s megahit Korean action film “Assassination” might soon hit Japanese screens, an official from the film’s distributor Showbox told local media on Wednesday.

“It is uncertain whether it will be possible to release the movie in the country (Japan), but we are in talks for an exact release date, aiming for July,” added the official.

July is peak season for the film industry with many moviegoers flocking to theaters then. The movie has proved its immense popularity here, surpassing 12 million admissions at local box offices.

Its cast also includes top celebrities well-known to Japanese fans, such as actress Gianna Jun as well as actors Lee Jung-jae and Ha Jung-woo.

However, there are concerns as to how the Japanese will respond to the film as it revolves around Korean independence fighters who go against Japan’s occupation of Korea.

It has drawn a lot of attention abroad, including in the U.S., China and Singapore, but its success in Japan is not assured.
