March 8, 2016 - 10:39 By KH디지털2

A sequel to South Korean hit film "My Sassy Girl" will be released in Korea and China with a Chinese heroine, local film distributor said on Tuesday.

Dubbed "My New Sassy Girl," the rom-com will launch in China on April 22 and in Korea on May 5, according to South Korean film distributor Little Big Pictures.

The new film stars Korean rom-com star Cha Tae-hyun, who also starred in the original film 15 years ago, and Victoria of K-pop girl group f(x). Directing is Cho Geun-sik rather than Kwak Jae-yong, who directed the original "My Sassy Girl" as well as melodrama "The Classic" in 2003.

In "My New Sassy Girl," Cha plays an ordinary but somewhat clueless job hunter Gyeon-woo, who is dumped by his girlfriend, played by Victoria. Gyeon-woo works as a part-time cab driver to make ends meet, but without a reliable job he struggles in his romantic life as well.

The upcoming film has come under spotlight in the two countries, as it is the debut film for the Chinese K-pop singer.

As of Tuesday morning, the official Weibo page of "My New Sassy Girl" hit about 720 million visitors.
