Jan. 31, 2016 - 10:03 By KH디지털2
Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's leading carmaker, saw its sales in Brazil and three other emerging countries hit an all-time high last year despite overall weak demand, industry data showed Saturday.

According to the data by automotive associations in each nation, Hyundai Motor's sales in those markets, which also include Russia, India and Mexico, came to 868,117 units last year, up 3.3 percent from a year earlier. The growth rate far outshone the 13.8 percent on-year decline in auto sales tallied in the countries last year.

Hyundai Motor sold 204,664 cars in Brazil, 161,201 in Russia, 476,001 in India and 26,251 in Mexico, the data showed.

In particular, the automaker secured a double-digit market share in Russia for the first time with its models taking up 10.1 percent of total annual sales there.

The data showed that its combined market share in the four emerging markets also rose 2.3 percentage points on-year to 10.6 percent. (Yonhap)
