Samsung mass produces industry's first all-in-one bioprocessor

Dec. 29, 2015 - 10:27 By KH디지털2
Samsung Electronics Co. said Tuesday it has commenced the industry's first mass-production of all-in-one bioprocessors that can be applied to various health care smart devices to collect users' biological information.

The Samsung Bio-Processor, also dubbed "S3FBP5A," will be used to measure different health care information, such as body fat, skeletal muscle mass, heart rate, heart rhythm, skin temperature and stress level.

It can track more health care data than any other rival through a single chip, the company said, adding that it had significantly reduced the size of the bioprocessor.

The new bioprocessor processes data in one chip, while previous methods required a separate one.

"Samsung's Bio-Processor, which can process five different biometric signals, is the most versatile health and fitness monitoring chip available in the market today and is expected to open up many new health-based service options for our customers," the company added.

Samsung Electronics said the bioprocessors will be installed in various fitness and health care devices starting in the first half of 2016. (Yonhap)
