Ssangyong Motor's Nov. sales soar 24.2%

Dec. 1, 2015 - 14:26 By KH디지털2

Ssangyong Motor Co., the local unit of Indian auto conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said Tuesday that its sales shot up 24.2 percent on-year in November as soaring sales at home helped offset plunging exports.

Ssangyong Motor sold 12,415 units last month, up from the previous year's 10,000 units, the company said in a press release.

The figures do not include complete knockdown kits that are assembled abroad.

Overseas shipments nosedived 20.1 percent to 3,353 units over the cited period.

On its home turf, however, sales surged 56 percent on-year to 9,062 units due mainly to the continued popularity of its Tivoli crossover SUV.

Cumulative sales during the January-November period came to 129,425 units, up 1.8 percent from the previous year, according to Ssangyong. (Yonhap)
