Oct. 18, 2015 - 09:35 By KH디지털2

South Korea's National Research Council of Science & Technology said Sunday it will hold an academic gathering with Europe-based applied science researcher Fraunhofer in line with the upcoming OECD ministerial meeting.

Under the plan, the NST will meet up with officials from Fraunhofer on Monday, and discuss various ways to bolster ties between the two researchers in Daejeon, located 164 kilometers south of Seoul.

Fraunhofer currently has around 23,000 staff members and 67 research labs in Germany. The institution covers various fields including healthcare, energy, telecommunications and transportation.

The upcoming science summit will kick off on Monday and run through Oct. 23 under the slogan "Creating our common future through science, technology and innovation." Around 3,000 participants from 59 countries and 12 global organizations are anticipated to attend.

Organizers will host meetings with participants from not only the OECD but also from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. It marks the first time for the OECD science ministerial gathering to be held outside Paris. (Yonhap)
