The finalists for the Citi Mobile Challenge Asia Pacific, hosted by Citigroup, will be selected this Wednesday, company officials said.

The Citi Mobile Challenge is a digital acceleration program that holds hackathons, and looks for those who can present consumer and business solutions for Citigroup.

Programmers from all over the world and Asia Pacific have been invited, including individuals and organizations from Korea.

“Korean fintech companies have also joined the challenge as Citi Bank is putting emphasis on digital banking,” a Citi Bank Korea spokesperson said

Registration and participant selection for the challenge took place in August, and the selected finalists will travel to Bangalore, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney in November to present their solutions.

Finalists also receive a cash award of $100,000 and an opportunity for a commercial relationship with Citi Bank and other fintech companies and sponsors, as well as a fintech accelerator program with mentorship and boot camp on technology, business, marketing and more.

The Citi Mobile Challenge has also taken place in Europe, Middle East and Africa this year, as well as in South America and North America last year.
